🎩 A Magical Night with SafetyCurtain in Edinburgh

Our Chair, Jo Cameron Brown, warmly invites you to join us for A Magical Night with SafetyCurtain @ The Joker & The Thief — an evening of wonder, connection and purpose in support of performers at risk across the world.

đź—“ Sunday 19 October 2025, 7:00 pm

📍 The Joker & the Thief, 71 Elm Row, Leith, Edinburgh EH7 4AG

A magician looks mischievously out of the image. A playing card, the ace of hearts is pierced by a throwing knife. A trickle of blood is running down the card. Sparkly text reads "do join us. please RSVP". smaller text in reads minimum ÂŁ5 entry by donation, scan, link for RSVP tickets.

Be amazed by the wondrous Tim Licata, award-winning actor, director and close-up magician — as he works his extraordinary sleight-of-hand and storytelling magic in the cosy surroundings of one of Leith’s favourite pubs.

💜 Why we’re gathering

Tim has a regular weekly spot (usually Thursday's) and SafetyCurtain provides small but vital emergency grants to theatre practitioners living and working under threat — helping them to survive, rebuild and keep performing. A great combo, I hope you agree!

Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference to artists in countries where expression and creativity come at a cost. Expect laughter, astonishment, and good company — all for a cause that matters deeply to our theatre community.

🍸 On the night

  • Fun raffle with prizes to be won

  • Drinks and snacks available at the bar

  • Tables can be booked (see FAQ on Joker & the Thief website)
